Netflix subscriptions for new users in Romania will cost more starting this month, for either of the three available subscription options, according to news.ro.
The new plans will cost as follows (first month is free):
Basic – EUR 9 (instead of EUR 8 for current users) – one screen, HD not available
Standard – EUR 12 (instead of EUR 10) – 2 screens, HD available
Premium – EUR 15 (instead of EUR 12) – 4 screens, HD, UHD available
For now, the price change only applies to new users who register with Netflix. The move is not necessarily a surprise, as the company also increased prices for its nearly 60 million subscribers in the United States at the beginning of this year.
According to Wall Street analysts, Netflix may invest up to USD 15 billion this year to create original content. In 2017, it invested USD 9 billion and in 2018 the investment went up to USD 12 billion.
At the same time, Netflix increased its marketing spending by 65 percent in 2018, reaching USD 2.37 billion. For 2019, marketing costs are estimated to reach USD 2.9 billion.
