Instagram has a lot to offer with every coming update. A lot of it has been the reason for the current popularity of Instagram. There is no denying the fact that we have varied features on the app and there is always something new.  From stories, reels, IGTV, live stream to the tits and bits of new things that are added in each of these features, everything has shown immense engagement. In this blog, we are concerned about one such feature and that is the live stream.

What Is an Instagram Live Stream?

An Instagram live stream is a feature that we have on the app where you as a user can chat with your audience live on video. It is more or less like a video call where you will be the one in the video and your audience can comment, like, or ask questions by writing it down. Your audience can also request to join you in the live stream and then it is up to you if you want to take them in. But you can add only a couple of them at a time and the rest of them will see you chatting with the ones in the live.

6 Tips for Making Your Live Stream Better

While you go live on Instagram, you will have a goal behind it. Now, to get the engagement, you have to follow certain tips and tricks and see if these work out for you or not.

The tips are:

  • Stay authentic
  • Pre-plan everything
  • Promote your live beforehand
  • Engage with your attendees
  • Have fun
  • Conclude with a CTA

1. Stay Authentic

There is no way this can be stressed more, but staying authentic is your first and foremost step for success on social media. This is not a moral lesson. It is just that the audience on the Internet is smart and they are quick to catch a lie. Now, coming to the topic of live streaming. When you are in a live stream, you will be facing your audience directly unlike posts and stories. You will be unedited and unfiltered. So make sure your audience connects to you. The tone between your content and your presentation needs to match.

2. Pre-plan Everything

Going live without planning it initially and not knowing what to do there can turn out to be a waste for you. Also, at times, it can be a matter of camera consciousness as it is not everyday you have to deal with that unless your content creation demands that. So, make yourself look presentable. Pre-plan about what you are going to talk about, how you will answer the questions, and what things you need to ask your audience. Also, make a mental preparation of some out-of-the-blue questions so that you do not get caught up. After that, you are good to go.

3. Promote Your Live Beforehand

When you plan a live, you want more and more people to be a part of it. For that to happen, they need to know your timing. You cannot just do this impromptu unless you have something really exciting to show and you were notified about that happening earlier. You have to set a good time for your live stream. Also, make sure that it is not the active time of the day. People have to be on the app to join you. The evenings sound like a good idea and if there is an issue with lighting or you prefer daylight, weekends are your calling. Also, inform them beforehand of the same so that they can join you on time. It is preferred to do that at least 24 hours before and add some stories two to three hours before as well. This one is just a reminder.

4. Engage With Your Attendees

Never forget that you are doing this live stream for the audience and your followers. So, it is your responsibility to make them feel connected. At times, people go live and just continue with their jibber-jabber and do not acknowledge the presence of people who have joined. This will lead to disinterest, not only on that but also on your profile as a whole. So, acknowledge their presence and start a conversation with them. Well, at times, live comes with a purpose. But it is important to make the attendees feel that whatever the project or business you are discussing concerns them the most and you are taking care of it. For the initial hike, you can buy real likes.

5. Have Fun

Social media is a casual space. That does not mean that there is no career option here. People have built businesses here and we are completely aware of that. While you plan and prepare, you have to work sincerely. But, you cannot maintain the sophisticated nature while you represent. That disturbs the essence of Instagram or social media as a whole. The same concept is followed on live streams as well. You have to be your fun self and chirpy. It is your way to connect to the audience through your persona, so show the best version of that.

6. Conclude with a CTA

While you are on a live stream, you will talk about something that may be a new project concerning your field and in the middle, you will keep it casual. But as soon as the stream is about to end, you need to remind them about your purpose in a very casual manner. Also, keep a call to action ready and inform them about the same so that as soon as the stream wraps they can go to that.

Wrapping up

Live streams are a great way to keep the connection with the audience. But, with that, it is important to keep it interesting and relevant. You have to look presentable and keep them entertained with whatever you have to say. In this blog, we have shared some of those ideas that can turn out to be useful for you.  All in all, the live stream is a great feature on Instagram. Make the most out of it while you can.
