Microsoft launched yesterday Office 2019 for Windows and Mac for commercial volume license customers. Office 2019 will be available to consumers and other commercial clients in the next few weeks.
Office 2019 is designed for users that haven’t opted into Microsoft’s Office 365 service with monthly feature updates. It includes updates to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project, Visio, Access, and Publisher.
According to The Verge, all Office apps will include a roaming pencil case and ribbon customisation. Moreover, Word will receive a new translator and accessibility improvements, while PowerPoint will feature tools such as Read Aloud, SVG and 3D model support, morph transitions, play in-click sequence and 4k video export. Excel will feature new data analysis features such as new formulas and charts and enhancements to PowerPivot.
Exchange Server 2019, Skype for Business Server 2019, SharePoint Server 2019, and Project Server 2019 will also be released for business in the next coming weeks.
According to Microsoft, Office 2019 is a one-time release and will not receive any future feature updates. Office 365 ProPlus will receive new updates monthly, however, ranging from features designed for collaboration, security updates, artificial intelligence (AI), and more.
Office 2019 is compatible with Windows 10 and the three most recent versions of macOS. For more information on the features included in Office 2019, please see Microsoft’s FAQs.
