The Logiscool România programming school, leader in edu-tech programs for children aged 7 to 17, closed 2020 with a 25% increase in the number of enrolled students, considering the accelerated need for digital literacy especially in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic. In over 3 years of existence in Romania, more than 20,000 students attended Logiscool classes.

In 2020, Logiscool expanded the number of schools nationwide, as part of its strategy to bring digitalisation closer to children across the country, reaching a total number of 40 locations. The expansion continues this year, with plans to open new centers in cities such as Botosani, Bistrita, Focsani, Giurgiu, Piatra Neamt, Satu Mare, Slobozia, Targoviste, Vaslui, Zalau and others where there is an acute need for programming classes for children. The school has a total of over 200 trainers nationwide.

The need for digitalization and digital literacy has significantly increased in the last year, accelerated by the context of the Covid-19 pandemic that brought technology to the spotlight and changed the way it is used in everyday life. Logiscool Romania adapts to current trends and launches new workshops such as 3D Design, App Creation, Digital Illustration and Minecraft Modding, offering children the opportunity to develop new skills and thus overcome the status of technology users, becoming creators of the digital future.

“Children are increasingly interested in technology and curious not only to discover how they can use it, but also how it works and how they can implement their ideas for a more creative digital future, adapted to their needs. That’s why at Logiscool we are now launching 4 new workshops that will help them understand the mechanisms behind using an app, a site or a game, focusing on analytical thinking and creativity”, says Indira Abdulvoap, General Manager Logiscool România.

The workshops that can be attended both in classrooms and online combine gamification with the principles of programming, the emphasis being on understanding the process and integrating information. Students will learn, in 5 to 10 sessions depending on the chosen workshop, how to develop an app themselves, how to change the Minecraft game according to their own preferences or how to design 3D objects that they can print later. The new workshops don’t require prior knowledge and can be attended alongside other Logiscool classes.

The Logiscool Romania curriculum is designed to develop the children’s technical skills, so that regardless of the profession they will be heading towards, certainly having a digital component, they will already have a set of skills focused on technology. The programming school is constantly developing new topics for its classes, workshops and camps, including in the field of artificial intelligence. All students, regardless of whether they attend classes in schools or online, have access to support materials and educational resources available in the school’s own learning platform Scoolcode.
