One of the schools that has adapted quickly to the new context provoked by COVID-19 is Logiscool, the International School of Programming for Children and Adolescents. In less than a week, Logiscool has transformed some of its courses into an online format and has taken steps so that children can continue their work from home.

Students from the 35 Logiscool centers in Bucharest and in the country will also be able to participate in LIVE online sessions with instructors, who aim to recreate the atmosphere and interaction in the classrooms. Over 30 instructors from the Logiscool team spent more than 200 hours creating new recorded video tutorials that are already available to students.

The Logiscool team is also working on a social responsibility program to support students from families whose incomes have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Logiscool Romania offers enrolled students from all over the country online courses in order to continue the learning process, in the context of closing schools, as a preventive measure against the spread of the new coronavirus. The school courses were suspended on March 11, with the closure of public schools.

Live sessions and recorded video tutorials

To maintain the interaction between students and instructors, starting this week, students enrolled in Logiscool will participate in live learning sessions, which resume the teaching process in an interactive, online format that recreates the atmosphere of the classrooms.

“We expected more than 10,000 students to take our courses online during this period,” said Dana Banica, Logiscool Romania Manager.

The courses are also available as recorded video lessons, accessible from the Scoolcode study platform. The recordings with the instructor allow the students to follow the lesson at their own pace, to pause at any time to review the instructor’s instructions and explanations.

“We worked intensely with the international and the Romanian educational team to find solutions to the needs and limitations of all our students. Only in Romania, in the last days, more than 30 instructors have mobilized and devoted more than 200 hours to film and edit the first lessons, which are already available to students. In completing the live sessions, our educational platform will be updated weekly with new lessons, according to the program, until the activity in the classroom is resumed,” said Banica.

Students who do not have access to a laptop at home can borrow it from Logiscool

At the same time, Logiscool Romania will provide the possibility for those who do not have the electronic equipment needed to take online lessons to borrow school laptops (subject to availability), so that children can continue the courses. Parents will have the support they need to configure their laptops to access the Logiscool learning platform.

Logiscool also announces that it is also working on developing scholarships to support children from families facing problems and whose incomes have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, to complete their courses.

“We keep in touch with hundreds of parents these days and we know what their fears are. The gaming laptop is very similar to the productivity laptop in many ways, but it also has the advantage of having two solid processors instead of just one. We are considering a payment deferral system as well as the development of Logiscool scholarships, through which children from financially affected families during this period can continue their studies. It is good for them to continue their studies, to stay connected with their colleagues and their community, and we strive to help with everything we can,” said Banica.
