Eviden, a part of Atos and a leader in digital, cloud, big data, and security, announces the successful completion of a key project to modernize cybersecurity capabilities and critical systems in 22 NATO locations. The NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCI Agency) awarded a contract to Eviden Romania (“Atos Convergence Creators SRL”) for the modernization of two key components of the cybersecurity system: the Network Intrusion Protection/Detection System (NIPS) and the Full Packet Capture (FPC) system.

These two components play a crucial role in the NATO Cyber Security Operations Centre, helping monitor Alliance networks to identify and report potential threats and critical issues. The NIPS system uses pattern recognition algorithms to promptly notify the NCI Agency of unusual traffic on NATO networks, while the FPC system continuously records all network activities and serves as a primary source of information to support incident response activities.

The project was contracted and delivered by the Eviden Romania team, illustrating the importance of global coverage with local expertise.

“Our participation in this activity was a great opportunity to leverage our expertise in the field, and we are pleased to have had the privilege to contribute to strengthening NATO’s cyber resilience. This experience once again demonstrated the importance of close and efficient collaboration in a project of such magnitude, and we will continue to focus on developing innovative solutions in the field,” said Ovidiu Dan, Head of Big Data & Security Business Line at Eviden, Atos Group Romania.

This final phase of the NIPS and FPC capabilities replacement project across the NATO network was initiated in 2022, and within one year, Eviden successfully modernized the security technology for the mentioned 22 locations.

“This collaborative approach was crucial to ensuring a smooth execution of the implementation plans. At Eviden, we are aware of the importance of cybersecurity in the digital era we live in, and this collaboration with NATO demonstrates our commitment to protecting the networks and vital information of our partner organizations,” said Diana Sipos, Country Manager at Eviden Romania.

“As cyber threats become increasingly sophisticated and frequent, the NCI Agency remains at the forefront of cybersecurity efforts within the Alliance, defending NATO networks 24/7 and enabling digital transformation across the entire organization. The completion of the project represents another step in this direction, strengthening cyber resilience to keep NATO networks protected,” said Miles Knight, Principal Project Manager, NATO Cyber Security Centre.

Eviden is dedicated to continuing the development of innovative and high-quality cybersecurity solutions to counter current and future threats. The company is committed to maintaining its position as a leader in providing advanced cybersecurity solutions for its partners.

“The combination of NATO’s deep expertise and specialized cybersecurity knowledge, along with an excellent partnership with NATO, has been essential for the successful completion of this implementation project across 22 sites,” said Frank Amedick, Client Executive Partner at Eviden, Atos Group.
