Digi launched mobile telephony services in Hungary through its subsidiary Digi Kft

Digi Kft., the Hungarian subsidiary of Digi Communications N.V., parent company of the Romanian electronic communications operator, RCS & RDS, launched mobile telephony services through its own network, after 4 year process of investment, planning and implementing.

Thus, the service portfolio of the fixed-mobile convergent operator will become similar to the offer in Romania, incorporating fixed telecommunications services (cable television, fixed internet, fixed telephony) and mobile (telephony and mobile data), as well as television satellite (direct to home – DTH).

Digi network in Hungary adopts the latest mature developments in mobile communications, using the 4G standard for state-of-the-art phones. At the same time, the network also uses the 2G standard for voice service, exclusively for compatible existing phones. The operator is planning a rapid development towards the future of mobile communications, intending to develop further 5G services.

Along with the launch of the service on the neighbouring market, DIGI Kft. introduces, free of charge, two 4G features, which will bring great quality for voice service on compatible terminals: VoLTE ( 4G/LTE Voice) and VoWiFi (voice over WiFi). VoLTE and VoWiFi have been introduced for Romanian Digi Mobil clients in 2017.

Digi Mobil network in Hungary will be constantly developed, with the coverage expanding in several stages.

“We are committed to investing, testing and keep on following the needs of our subscribers, so that in the next period, we will continuously improve coverage, as a matter of priority in important areas for customers who choose our mobile service,” said Dragos Spataru, general manager of Digi Kft. and Invitel Kft..

For the launching period, until the end of the year, Digi and Invitel subscribers holding at least one service (fixed communications or satellite TV-DTH) will benefit from a promotional offer. Details about the offer are available on website digi.hu.

In addition to these services, Digi proposes its customers a range of selected terminals from the portfolios of the most reliable and renowned profile brands, available for testing in most of Digi stores. Starting with the launch of mobile telephony services on this market, Digi Kft. will provide its own and Invitel`s clients a range of own-brand mobile phones – Digi C1, Digi R1 and Digi K1. The devices have been specially designed to meet the needs of customers both in terms of quality and price.
