In celebration of the Lunar New Year 2023, also known as the Chinese New Year, Bang & Olufsen is launching a limited edition collection inspired by the classic colours and elements of China’s ancient Silk Road.
The collection includes five iconic Bang & Olufsen products: the Beoplay A9 speaker, the Beolit 20 portable speaker, the Beosound A1 portable speaker, the Beoplay H95 headphones and the Beoplay EX true wireless active noise cancelling headphones.
The Silk Road covered over 6000 kilometres and played a very important role in facilitating economic, cultural and political interactions between East and West for more than 2000 years. The significance of the Silk Road in history is still recognised today.
“Bang & Olufsen has always explored the boundaries of Eastern and Western cultures. We took inspiration from the legendary Silk Road and integrated the ancient oriental charm into the design of this collection,” says Leon Tang, Bang & Olufsen Marketing Director, China.
Wandering the Silk Road, interpreting traditional aesthetics
Alongside the Silk Road, this new collection draws inspiration from the traditional New Year colour palette – Chinese red, jade green and gold. From the wooden legs of the Beoplay A9, to the beautiful aluminium casings of the Beoplay H95 and Beoplay EX, the entire collection reflects the theme.
Paying homage to Chinese culture, the collection integrates hand-woven leather knots, symbolising happy reunions, for the Beosound A1 and Beolit 20.
Even the product packaging incorporates the traditional New Year aesthetic. The elegant silk ribbon design adorning the lid of the Beoplay A9 is harmoniously reflected on all packaging.
Bang & Olufsen collaborates with Chinese musicians Lumi Liu, Matt Lv and Corsak Hu to create unique content that celebrates the collection as well as oriental culture and traditions.
The Bang & Olufsen Chinese New Year Collection will be available to order in Bang & Olufsen stores (Caramfil & Glucose) from 27 December 2022.
