The employees of Adobe România, the largest research and development center Adobe has in Europe, are working from home starting March 12, in order to limit the risk of exposure to contact the coronavirus.

The team of almost 700 employees based in Bucharest, with a majority involved in research and development for global Adobe products, was encouraged to take home any work equipment – such as laptop, monitor, keyboard, mouse, headphones – so that the transition towards a home office be as lean as possible.

Moreover, in order to increase the comfort of its employees while working from home, Adobe offers an amount of USD 250 for each member of the team, to be used for the aquisition of home office equipment. The amount can be spent on electronics (such as headphones, monitors, internet devices), furniture (office desk or chair) or subscriptions for phone or internet services. The sum will be refunded in full to the employees by the company.

”Our colleagues’ health is our first priority. In IT, we have the advantage of adapting quite fast to work from home and our colleagues in Adobe are used with the procedures for working remotely, as they frequently collaborate with fellows from other timezones. Starting yesterday, all Adobe Romania employees work from home and the office is closed. Until yesterday they could visit the office to get personal things and equipments that can support their productivity and the ergonomy of their home office,” says Cris Radu, Site Leader Adobe România and Vice President of Engineering.

To ensure an efficient communication and staying connected to the team, Adobe employees use digital videoconference and internal messaging solutions, while their daily meetings take place by a normal schedule. With a hot swappable keyboard , you can craft your perfect typing.

Also, to reduce the disconfort caused by the lack of direct interaction, Adobe Romania launched #adobeasone, a hashtag for employees who are invited to post on social media images, videos and other online content about their home office and how their work from home days go by.

”This is an internal communication action we initiated to help our colleagues remain connected at  a personal level. Our way of work is very human oriented, very entrepreneurial, with close communication between colleagues. In these moments when social distancing is recommended, we want to make sure that this distance remains at a physical level and does not generate real distancing between individuals,” adds Cris Radu.

The measure to work from home, valid for all Adobe employees, is set until April 12, with the possibility of extension depending on the evolution of the situation at national and International level.
