Smart City Industry Awards kickstarts its 5th edition

Projects can still be registered for the 5th edition of the Smart City Industry Awards, the most important event of the year for the Smart City Industry in Romania! The gala is organized by the Romanian Smart City Association and will be broadcasted online, on December 20, 2020, starting at 8:00 PM. Just like every year, the event will award the best Smart City projects implemented at a national level during 2020, as well as the sustained efforts of institutions, companies and individuals for the development of the industry.

 

If the 4th edition of the Smart City Industry Awards Gala took place in a spectacular setting, at the Palace of Parliament, with 450 of the most important decision-makers in the Smart City industry, this year, circumstances force us to celebrate the most successful Smart City projects in Romania from afar, in the comfort of their own homes. Thus, the event will be broadcasted online, on all available channels of the Romanian Smart City Association and its partners.

The laureates of Smart City Industry Awards 2019

The 2020 edition of the Smart City Industry Awards will reward those people / institutions / companies that have been able to adapt to the current pandemic context, to digitize, to involve citizens in problem solving and the administrative act and to implement innovative technologies and solutions meant to help communities get through these difficult times.

The registration of a project in the competition is FREE of charge and it can be done by filling in the following form, until December 11, 2020, at 6:00 PM: Register a project here!

 

The Smart City Industry Awards 2020 categories:

  1. Smart Citizen – this category can include projects that refer to or contain technologies for: civic engagement, participatory budgeting, information and transparency applications, etc.
  2. Smart Mobility – this category can include projects that refer to or contain technologies for: Public Transport Project, Transport infrastructure Project, Smart infrastructure, Ride Sharing Project, Accessibility, Alternative modes of transport, Smart Mobility Project, etc.
  3. Smart Economy – projects that refer to or contain technologies such as: innovative banking services, Start-Up, Young Smart Innovator of the Year, etc. can be included in this category.
  4. Smart Environment – projects that refer to or contain technologies such as: Environment, Waste Management, Water Project, Energy, etc. can be included in this category.
  5. Smart Living – this category can include projects that refer to or contain technologies such as: Safe City, Health, Education, CSR Project, Tourism, Real Estate, etc.
  6. Smart Governance – this category can include projects that refer to or contain technologies such as: Digital City, Transparency and access to information, Municipal directions and companies, Smart County, etc.

The jury will be composed of experts from the Smart City industry, leaders in their fields of specialization. According to tradition, the the position of president of the jury belongs to the big winner of the previous edition. Therefore,  Mr. Mihai Chirica, Mayor of Iași, is the President of the Jury for this edition of the Smart City Industry Awards Gala.

Judging criteria:

  • 20% degree of replicability
  • 20% Functionality and implementation
  • 20% Impact in the community
  • 20% Innovation and creativity
  • 20% Quality

The special awards refer to the people, companies, institutions, professionals who make things happen in the Smart City industry. The Romanian  Smart City Association will award 11 special prizes to companies, institutions but, especially, of the people involved in the development of the Smart City industry in Romania, for their activity during the past year:

  1. Best Smart City Project
  2. Best Smart Village Project
  3. Mayor of the Year
  4. Best Smart City Company
  5. CEO of the Year
  6. Partner of the Year
  7. City Manager of the Year
  8. Smart Real Estate and Residential
  9. Most active member
  10. Best Mass Media Supporter

The Romanian Smart City Association, the most important organization of the Smart City Industry in Romania, strongly believes in the intelligent development capabilities of our communities and the Smart City Industry Awards Gala is here to recognize the merits and sustained efforts of all actors involved in the most ambitious Smart City projects nationwide.
