What’s on 2015 edition of George Enescu Festival

Over 2.500 foreign artists and 500 national artists are expected on the 2015 edition of George Enescu Festival, which will take place between August 30 and September 20, at Palace Hall and Romanian Athenaeum, gathering 58 concerts. On this edition, 20 works signed by George Enescu will be staged during the festial.

For the first time in Romania, Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra will come to the festival, after 15 years of negotiations, accompanied by the legendary Sir Simon Rattle, on September 3.

London Philharmonic Orchestra, Vienna Philharmonic, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam, San Francisco Symphony, Munchen Opera Orchestra, Staatskapelle Dresden, Sankt Petersburg Orchestra, Vienna Philharmonic, Bayerische Staatoper, Royal Liverpool Symphony Orchestra and Monte Carlo Philharmonic will be staged, as well as Romanian participation of Youth National Orchestra, George Enescu Choir and Orchestra Philharmonic and Radio Hall National Orchestra with Radio Academic Choir are among the special guests.

Among soloists, great names will perform in Bucharest next autumn: conductors Cristian Mandeal and Horia Andreescu, Dan Grigore, Ruxandra Donose, Valentina Nafornita, Alexandra Dariescu, Arcadi Volodos, Anne Sophie Mutter, Fazil Say, Murray Perahia, Yfrem Bronfman, Andras Schiff, Pierre Laurent Aimard, Maria Joao Pires, Renaud and Gautier Capucon, David Garett, as well as awarded musicians of the Enescu Competition, Alexandru Tomescu, Valery Sokolov, Stefan Tarara, Vlad Stanculeasca and Elisabeth Leonskaja. For this edition, the Romanian Ministry of Culture will offer RON 28 million and the festival’s budget will be completed with other RON 7 million by private sponsors.

The tickets will be put on sale on February 16, 2015. A full subscription will cost RON 2200 for first category, RON 1700 for second category, RON 1300 for third category and RON 1000 for fourth category. For 11 concerts of the festival, the prices start from RON 1250 to RON 550, while the prices for the concerts and cameral recitals are RON 2000 and RON 1600. The “By Midnight” category costs RON 900 or RON 700, while the morning concerts costs RON 200 or RON 170. Individual tickets cost from RON 40 to RON 160.
