Top psychologist Richard Wiseman, PZ Myers in Bucharest this weekend

British psychologist and author Richard Wiseman is to address a Romanian audience at the People’s Palace on Saturday. The former magician will be one of two main speakers at the humanist conference Education, Science and Human Rights, along with the American scientist Paul Zachary Myers. The line-up also includes Dutch writer and actor Boris van der Ham, education professional and campaigner Andrew Copson, Belgian politician Pierre Galand, Belgian school inspector Sonja Eggerickx, Moldovan journalist, activist and filmmaker Oleg Brega, La Raison editor Catherine Le Fur of France, British campaigner Keith Porteous Wood and French historian Jean-Marc Schiappa.

Wiseman is one of the UK’s best known psychologists. Britain’s only Professor in the Public Understand of Psychology, he has been described by Scientific American magazine as “the most interesting experimental psychologist working today”. His books cover topics from luck to the paranormal, and his videos have attracted over 45 million views on YouTube.

Myers is an American scientist and associate professor of biology at the University of Minnesota Morris. He has taught and researched at the University of Oregon, the University of Utah and Temple University.

The conference, which will be moderated by Cezar Maroti, vice-president of Romania’s Green Party, takes place at the People’s Palace on Saturday, from 10am to 4pm. Tickets can be bought through the eventim network or on the door.
