Good news for the Britpop enthusiasts: Pulp, one of the most popular British alternative rock band of 90s announced their presence for the first time in Romania, this summer at the B’ESTFEST Summer Camp.

Hailing fromShefield,United Kingdom, Pulp enjoyed success in the 90s with the release of the album “His’n’Hers” and “Different Class.” Soon after, their name became synonymous with Britpop, a new trend music that only in a few years enjoyed impressive spread beyond the borders ofUK.    Moreover, Pulp  was one of the pioneers of this movement along with names like Blur and Oasis, the band’s style standing out through a clever mix of pop-rock rhythms with disco style influences and   “kitchen sink drama” lyrics, a culture current found not only in music which brings forward the young family problems. Over time, Pulp released seven studio albums, ten compilations, 25 singles and 20 videos. The best known songs that have entered the charts are: “Common People”, “Sorted for E’s & Wizz,” “Disco 2000,” “Something Changed” or “This is Hardcore”

While enjoying the fabulous success in the group formula, the band- Jarvis Cocker (vocals, guitar), Russell Senior (violin, guitar), Candida Doyle (keyboards), Mark Webber (guitar), Steve Mackey (bass) and Nick Banks (drums) decided in 2002 to start their separate ways. Jarvis Cocker has committed to his solo career, releasing several albums appreciated by the audience and critics alike and a project in collaboration with some of the members of Radiohead with whom he was involved in making the soundtrack of the movie “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.” Candida Doyle has continued her musical journey including collaborating on some of Jarvis’s projects while Steve Mackey focused more on studio work, producing a series of new artists such as MIA, Florence and the Machine or Bromheads Jacket.

Last year came with a surprise for fans of Pulp when the band announced its appearance at the Isle of Wight and Wireless festivals inBritain. After touring last summer to famous European festivals in UK, Hungary, Serbia, Scotland, Germany, Belgium or Poland, the band decided to continue this year, too, announcing their first presence in Romania  at B’ESTFEST Summer Camp.

The festival will take place from July 6 to 8 in B’ESTFEST Park, BirdLakein Tunari. Along with Pulp, list names confirmed so far Garbage, Caro Emerald, Selah Sue, The Qemists, Milow, Andy C, Mala Vita, Meshuggah, Obituary, Kreator, Moonspell.
