Close to 40,000 tourists were in Mamaia resort, making it the most popular destination for holiday goers the small vacation period that extends through to May 1, according to police data.
The police forces in Constanta estimated that 77,521 tourists were visiting the Romanian seaside on April 30. Out of the total figure, 9,546 were foreigners
After Mamaia, Vama Veche was the second most popular destination with 17,600 tourists, while Navodari came third with over 9,000.
Some 3,000 tourists were in Costinesti, and close to 3,000 in Neptun resort, while around 2,000 tourists were recorded in Mangalia and Eforie.
Hotel industry representatives and authorities had expected around 40,000 tourists to reach the Romanian seaside in this period.
