It must have been love: Roxette returns to Romania

Swedish pop-dup Roxette, who last year gave a smashing show in Bucharest right on songstress Marie Fredriksson’s  birthday, will be returning to Romania on July 19, this time for a concert in Cluj.

This concert (at Cluj arena) is part of the band’s tour, suggestively called The Neverending Tour, which started at the beginning of last year and has so far taken them to 31 countries where they held 79 concerts.

This year, it brings them back to Europe, but will also lead them to venues in New Zealand, Australia, Asia and South America.

Roxette have been around for nearly 25 years and have sold so far 75 million albums. They have spawned over 30 hits.

Unless you have been living on the moon for the past two decades, you definitely heard some of their landmark songs such as The Look, Listen to Your Heart, Dangerous, It Must Have Been Love or Joyride.

Roxette reunited in 2009 after a rough patch, releasing the album Charm School. In 2002, Fredriksson had been diagnosed with brain tumor and undergone a complicated surgery followed by lengthy treatment.

Fredriksson and Gessle first met in Halmstadt, Sweden, at the end of the 1970s. It took several years before they launched their first album, Pearls of Passion (1986).

This was followed by Look Sharp in 1988, which propelled them to world fame, an album that included The Look and Listen to Your Heart. Two years later, they launched Joyride, with the eponymous hit Joyride.

In 1992, Roxette released Tourism: Songs from Studios, Stages, Hotelrooms & Other Strange Places that further consolidated their reputation as an international act when tracks such as How Do You Do and It Must Have Been Love hit the radio waves.

Two years later the Swedish act launched Crash! Boom! Bang!, a studio effort which featured songs Sleeping in My Car, Crash! Boom! Bang! and Fireworks.

After a compilation of the best Roxette hits called Don’t Bore Us, Get to the Chorus! hit the shelves in 1995 and a new studio album Have a Nice Day (1999), they launched Room Service in 2001, hailed by critics as a return to form.

The band are now working on a new album which is expected to be launched this spring.

Tickets for the concert will be out for sale starting with February 23 (online at www.myticket.ro) and, starting on February 29, they will also be found at the Diverta, Muzica stores, Mihai Eminescu bookstore, Sala Palatului box-office.
