In this hot weekend, Bucharest cools its citizens with the Night of Cultural Institutes, jazz concerts, urban festival and an outdoor screening. Check out bellow several highlights from this weekend’s arts and culture program here.

ShortsUp – The Long Night of Short Films

The Long Night of the Short Films 2012 will be held on the terrace of the National Library of Romania, where several screens will be installed for the projection of the 25 world’s best short movies awarded at the Oscars, Berlin, BAFTA,  Sundance, Clermont-Ferrand, Tribeca and Cannes.

Women on Matasari Urban Festival (Femei pe Matasari) –  “Women between creation and creativity” theme

Women on Matasari Urban Festival celebrates the feminine universe with several artistic events between June 22-24. The idea of transforming a street in an urban festival came acrossMatasari Street’s history.  Last century, this street was well-known for prostitutes and escorts services. For this second edition of the festival, the street will be transformed in a grass lawn where live music, fashion shows, food & bio products, open-air cinema, debates, handmade products and art workshops will entertain the public.

The Night of the Cultural Institutes

June 22

The sixth edition of the Night of the Cultural Institutes brings foreign culture closer to people in 14 locations across Bucharest. The event will take place on the night of Friday to Saturday, June 22. The Bucharest public transport operator RATB announced several bus lines will run in the city center on the occasion.

A project developed by EUNIC in Romania, the Night of Cultural Institutes includes events proposed by the British Council, the Czech Center, the Hungarian Cultural Centre, the Austrian Cultural Forum, the Greek Cultural Foundation, the Goethe Institute, the Cervantes Institute, the Camões Institute / Embassy of Portugal, the Romanian Cultural Institute, the French Institute, the Italian Cultural Institute Vito Grasso, the Polish Institute, the Ukraine Cultural Centre, the Turkish Cultural Centre Yunus Emre and then Wallonie-Brussels Delegation.
