Gaudeamus International Book and Education Fair

Gaudeamus is this year celebrating Romanian language and culture by inviting Moldova as country guest of honor, in a call to dialog and recognition of the latest movements in Moldovan literature and culture. Moreover,Italy returns to the fair as privileged guest: highly reputed Italian writers, journalists, editors and literary agents will be at the heart of the events organized this year in the Italian stand. This year’s event also includes a new section for foreign literary agents active on the international book market. Over 400 Romanian and foreign publishers, printing houses, educational institutions, cultural institutes and centers, book distributors, multimedia companies, NGOs with a cultural and/or educational profile, professional associations, book shops and libraries are awaiting visitors during the fair.

Russian Cultural Days

Studio Cinema, Gaudeamus International Book and Education Fair

Russian Cultural Days will celebrate 80 years since the birth of the cinematic master Andrei Tarkovsky. The event will pay tribute to Tarkovsky through movie screenings: The Enigma of Andrei Rublev, directed by Serghei Karpuhin, Magnetism of Memory and The Collector of Dreams, both directed by Yevgeny Borzov, a book launch in the presence of Tarkovsky’s sister, Marina Tarkovskaya, and also a showing of the Russian entry for the 2013 Oscars, Belyy tigr (White Tiger), directed by Karen Shakhnazarov.

Hungarian Film Week

The Romanian Peasant Museum

The Hungarian Film Week, based on a partnership between Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and Balassi Institute – the Hungarian Center of Romania, presents 20 movies, documentaries and short films, allowing film lovers to discover lesser known Hungarian films. The opening movie is Final Cut – Ladies and Gentleman, directed by Palfi Gyorgy, featured at the Cannes Classics in 2012.

Czechoslovakian Film Posters

The National Museum of Contemporary Art

An exhibition of 101 Czechoslovakian film posters curated by Pavel Rajcan, and spanning from 1960 to the 1980s, will go on display, illuminating a unique era of non-commercial film advertising under a politically restrained regime. The exhibition is part of the Terry Posters Collection, which contains more than 60,000 posters, and will include 20 posters for Romanian films, 20 for Czech productions and 61 for classic movies.
