Classical dance festival on show at the Bucharest National Opera

The ballet company of the Bucharest National Opera (ONB) is presenting between November 11 – December 5 a classical dance festival under the slogan “You, too, dance along with us.”

Ballet performances such as “Don Quixote”, “Giselle”, “The Sleeping Beauty” and “The Corsair” will be presented during this festival. Special guest stars are Italian Vittorio Galloro and the Cuban Arianne Lafita Gonzavez. Vittorio Galloro has performed in over 100 theaters worldwide and in many shows in Cuba ,Mexico ,Brazil, the Dominican Republic and Mongolia. He worked with the European Ballet (London), the Cuban National Ballet, the Reggio Emilia classical ballet company as a dancer, and at the Budapest Opera, Prague Opera, and the Dutch company Introdans. Cuban ballerina Arianne Lafita Gonzavez, began her career at the Cuban national Ballet Company, and in 2005 she becomes prima ballerina at “Ballet de Cuba-Laura Alonso.” Since 2009, she has been collaborating with “Victor Ullate comunidad de Madrid” (Spain). In 2011, Arianne Lafita Gonzavez was awarded the “Grand Prix” at the Loano (Italy) International Festival.

The classical dance festival “You, too, dance along with us” will start with “Don Quixote” (Ludwig Minkus), on Sunday, Nov 11, 7.00 p.m., the latest premiere of the ONB Ballet Company, inspired by Cervantes’ novel. The event is dedicated to emeritus artist Ileana Iliescu, one of the greatest prima ballerinas of the Bucharest National Opera. Conductor Ciprian Teodorascu is in charge of the musical direction.

The next shows part of the festival are: “Giselle” (Adolphe Ch. Adam) – November 15, “The Sleeping Beauty” (Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky) – November 18, “La Bayadere” (Ludwig Minkus) – November 21; “Le Corsaire” (Adolphe Ch. Adam) – December 5.
