Bricks manufacturer Wienerberger will start this month the construction of its first local ‘e4 brick house’, a “nearly zero-energy consumption” residential concept. The house will be located in Corbeanca, close to Bucharest, and the beneficiaries are a family with two children.
The concept was launched in 2012 in Austria as a sustainable and energy-efficient building that meets the energy requirements for new constructions that will come into force in 2020 (Directive 31/2010). Under this directive, by December 31, 2020, all new buildings will need to have “nearly zero-energy consumption”.
“The project is actually an excellent case study for all those interested in building a house in the near future. It shows that an affordable and energy efficient house can be built through thorough planning, the use of quality materials and a careful supervision of construction works,” said company representatives.
