Sun Plaza shopping mall started operating last week with around 80 percent of the tenants able to open their stores on inauguration day. Others, such as New Yorker, Humanic, Hervis, Diverta, Debenhams and Cinema City, will open their doors shortly. The shopping mall, located in south Bucharest, has leased out 97 percent of its retail space, with around 14 spaces left. The developers, EMCT, and investors, Sparkassen Immobilien, have yet to complete the tunnel connecting the shopping mall to the nearby metro station in Sudului Square.

The biggest stores in the project, Mobexpert, Cora and BauMax, have also begun trading. Mobexpert has put EUR 4 million in its 10,200-sqm store.

Sun Plaza consists of 80,000 sqm of GLA and required a EUR 200 million investment.
