Real opens 24th unit in Ploiesti

Retailer real,- Hypermarket has opened its 24th store in Romania, near Ploiesti, following an investment of EUR 23.8 million. The 12,500-sqm unit outside the city has brought the firm’s total investment in Romania to EUR 500 million, according to Michel Lamoot, managing director of real,- Hypermarket Romania. The new store employs 280 people. At the end of last year, the retailer was employing around 7,500 people in Romania, 3,000 more than in mid-2007.

real,- posted a EUR 638 million turnover at the end of last year, a 92 percent increase on the previous year. The retailer opened six new stores last year and four this year.
