The company has constantly increased its chain of stores in Romania, and with the upcoming opening of a new store in Iasi at the beginning of August, it will reach 23 stores in Romania. For Praktiker, Romania was one of the most dynamic markets in the first half of this year, along with Poland and Bulgaria. The main driver for the growth in these countries was organic expansion, with 18 new units in the three countries in the first half of the year.
At group level, sales dropped by 0.4 percent, to EUR 1.9 billion, but its EUR 92 million EBITDA profit was bigger than in the same period of last year.
In Romania, the company has recently invested EUR 12.4 million in its 23rd store, located in Iasi. It will be its second unit in the northern city. The store will be located within Era Shopping Park retail project. Praktiker has opened two other stores in Romania this year, one in Deva and the other in Pitesti. So far, the DIY chain has invested EUR 220 million in Romania, and plans to boost the number to reach a 30-branch network in the country.
