The total surface taken up by co-working spaces in Bucharest has increased rapidly over the past years, especially driven by the development of the IT industry, and now reaches over 70,000 sqm, according to economica.net.
Flexible offices appeared for the first time in Bucharest in 1998, from Belgian group Regus. Today, these take up about 2 percent of the total office space in the city.
The biggest co-working space operators in Bucharest are IWG, with about 30,000 sqm in 14 offices, and Mindspace, with 12,000 sqm in 3 locations. The market is expanding rapidly, as the first quarter of 2019 alone saw over 8,000 sqm of new entries.
Price schemes for renting an office are very flexible and range from EUR 1/hour to EUR 10/day or EUR 120/month for single, flexible offices and EUR 1,500/month for offices that can fit an entire team.
New co-working spaces that will open in the following period on the Bucharest market, and new major companies will enter the segment, such as US giant WeWork, while several mixed real estate projects will also include co-working areas.
