“For the current year, we estimate a similar value to the one registered in 2009, because, even though we plan to increase our sales this year, we will also make greater investments in this period,” said Eduard Macarescu, commercial manager of Lasselsberger Romania.
For this year, the company plans to achieve a market share of 35 percent for its Cesarom brand, compared with the 25 percent attained in 2008. According to company representatives, the market share posted in the first quarter of 2009 reached 37 percent, but it is estimated to drop to 35 percent by the end of the year, due to the lack of imports made in 2009 so far.
In the next two years, the company plans to expand its store chain to Brasov, Piatra Neamt, Ploiesti and, a possible location in Bucharest, amounting to three new units to open in 2009 and five more units in 2010. For one sales unit, the company budgets an average investment of EUR 50,000.
The Austrian group entered the Romanian market at the end of 2004, when two Romanian brands, Cesarom and Sanex, started to be traded by Lasselsberger Romania.
In Europe, Lasselsberger Ceramics owns 16 production facilities, producing a total of 60 million sqm of ceramic plates, in countries such as the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia and Russia, with represented brands such as Cesarom, Lasselsberger Object, Rako, Kerko and Zalakeramia.
