Deloitte Romania reconditioned and equipped an amphitheater of the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures of the University of Bucharest with state-of-the-art teaching equipment, following an investment of 70,000 euros.

Located in the faculty premises in Pitar Moș Street, the new Deloitte amphitheater has a capacity of one hundred seats and will annually host several thousand students of the English, French, Romance, Oriental, Russian, Slavic, Germanic, Hungarian studies, Jewish studies, and Romani studies departments, as well as of master’s programs.

“This project is in line with Deloitte’s strategic commitment to support education quality and performance in Romania, and it strengthens our long-standing partnership with the University of Bucharest, which trains dozens of the professionals that Deloitte entities on the local market employ annually,” declared during the inauguration event Cătălin Iorgulescu, General Manager of the Regional Audit Delivery Center (RADC), the Deloitte entity in Romania which provides audit support services for Deloitte clients in over 20 countries around the world.

“The Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures offers the ideal foundation for young people who want to build a career in a dynamic and multicultural professional environment, where they daily have the opportunity to communicate and coordinate teams and clients from different countries, or even from different continents, as is the case with our organization,” stated Jan Verhoeven, Director, Deloitte Tax and Legal Delivery Center (TLDC), the Deloitte team in Romania coordinating tax and legal support services for Deloitte clients all across Europe.

“The renovation of this amphitheater is part of a wider process of modernizing the educational facilities of the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures, after the University of Bucharest managed to purchase two years ago the building in Pitar Moș Street no. 7-13. This is just a first step in the collaboration between the faculty and Deloitte, between the university and Deloitte, and we will continue to put resources together for the next projects, all for the benefit and for the good of our students and teachers. For the University of Bucharest, the partnership with the private sector and with public institutions is equally a priority, given that our university is the most important educational institution in Romania and forms elites that everyone needs,” said university professor, PhD, Marian Preda, rector of the University of Bucharest.

The amphitheater renovation project consisted of restoring and refurbishing the hall and equipping it with screens and sound equipment, essential in the study of foreign languages and cultures and in the practical training of translators and interpreters. The works were completed in six months.

Deloitte is one of the most desired employers in the country, according to independent rankings conducted by several entities.
