Construction prices up 15 percent in the first half of 2008

“It is hard to evaluate the increase in construction prices by the end of the year, but if the price per sqm was of EUR 600 to EUR 700 in the first half of 2007, now the construction price per built sqm exceeds EUR 800,” says Laurentiu Plosceanu, president of ARACO.
The price of cement went up by 12 percent in the first three months of this year, while estimations show steel and concrete prices will go up by 10 percent by the end of this year. Gas prices increased by 8.5 percent in February this year, with an outlook for 8 to 12 percent increase in the second trimester of the year.
