“We own a factory for drying sand in Arghiresti with a capacity of 80,000 tonnes a year which we want to expand to 260,000 tonnes. Moreover, we will open a production unit for adhesives, to produce 80,000 tonnes per year,” said Marius Cristescu. Construction works for the two projects will start in January and end in September next year. Bega Minerale Industriale has recently acquired new equipment for its quarries in Aghiresti Cluj, Aghiref Bihor, Faget Timia and Gura Sada in Hunedoara. Production capacities will thus increase from 350,000 to 500,000 tonnes of sand a year. Emil and Marius Cristescu own Bega group, which controls the Faur industrial platform in Bucharest. The two plan to invest EUR 30 million in setting up 10 hectares of industrial halls on the platform.
