The end of this year brings forth important changes for Superbet Group. Starting with November, Shaun Conning will be joining their team as Chief People Officer. Conning will coordinate the HR and organizational culture strategy of the company which has registered substantial growth over the past years.

Before joining Superbet, Conning served as Chief People Office for DAZN Group, the world’s leading sports entertainment platform. Over the past five years he has led DAZN’s People Strategy, focusing on their global expansion and technology fueled growth.

Having a vast experience in people strategy, organizational culture and leadership development, Shaun Conning has held key roles at Compass Group, the world’s largest catering & hospitality group and Kingfisher Group, a leading European retailer, while also having been a co-founder of tap’d Solutions and Encompass People, working with a range of clients across the Sports Media, Technology, Financial Services and Retail sectors.

“I am delighted to join such a dynamic organization, which values courage and innovation. I was convinced by the authentic leadership style of Johnny Hartnett (CEO Superbet Group) and the inspirational vision of Sacha Dragic (Founder & Executive Chairman Superbet Group). While discussing with them, I understood that I will be part of a successful business, characterized by a progressive way of thinking and which is experiencing an ongoing period of exponential growth.  As I got to discover the organization, I knew that I wanted to be part of this group and work with amazing teams from countries like Romania, Croatia, Belgium, Poland and UK”, mentions Shaun Conning.

At Superbet, the new Chief People Officer will find an enthusiastic team of HR experts, with whom he will work to develop a strategy for the future. Some of the main goals will be consolidating the organizational culture pillars, developing and diversifying training programs, as well as attracting talents which are best fitted with the objectives of this business.

Among others, Conning will be working directly with Tijana Kovacevici, prior HR leader at Wise and Coca-Cola, who is currently the VP of People of the technology teams in Superbet. Another key collaborator for Conning will be Cezary Lewandowski, an HR executive with a consistent experience in IT services and gaming, who now holds the role of VP of People for the Superbet teams which operate outside the area of technology.

The arrival of Conning is part of a constant recruitment campaign done by the largest sports betting operator in Romania. This process of operational development included the attraction of key business leaders, in previous years, from companies such as Mars, McKinsey, Adobe, Bitdefender and OLX Group.

Romania remains the most important market for the Superbet Group, which was founded in 2008 by entrepreneur Sacha Dragic, who currently still holds the majority package and the position of Group Executive Chairman. At the same time, Superbet has ambitious objectives for scaling the business, which they aim at achieving through massive investments in technology and expansion in regulated international markets.

In this context, the development of a HR strategy at global standards of excellence comes as a natural and necessary step for Superbet.

„Together with Johnny Hartnett, the CEO of Superbet Group, we are searching for a healthy balance between agile teams and business leaders who bring their experience of working in large multinational structures. We want to be better organized, without losing the entrepreneurial dynamic that defines us. Currently we find ourselves in a moment of strong growth and this motivates us to develop an ambitious human resource strategy, which will be led by Shaun Conning, our new Chief of People” states Sacha Dragic, regarding this announcement.
