Nordic Group, one of the largest Romanian companies in the field of premium food distribution in Retail, HoReCa, and Bakeries, has decided to appoint Dan Nistor as General Manager from February, with the objective to consolidate the accelerated development of the last years and to ensure resources for future projects. Ciprian Moldoveanu, who has led the Nordic Group for the last 5 years, will continue to ensure the strategic coordination of the Group, especially the development of new business directions.

With over 20 years of international experience in major companies, including Coca Cola, Dan Nistor is specialized in new business development and relationship building with existing clients, business unit restructuring, strategic planning, implementing change strategies, building successful brands, and creating effective cross-functional teams. He graduated from the Polytechnic Institute of Timisoara and attended specialization courses at prestigious schools such as the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) and Harvard Business School.

Ciprian’s invitation for me to join the team and take on the responsibility of General Manager of Nordic Group is a different challenge than the ones I have encountered before, which makes it even more exciting. So I have responded positively to the initiative, bringing with me the experiences and knowledge I have gathered and developed over 23 years of activity in various markets in Europe, Africa, and Asia, confident that I have found in Nordic all the necessary ingredients to achieve together the success we aim for. I will focus on understanding the needs of our customers and strengthening partnerships with suppliers. Beyond the numbers, Nordic Group is and will continue to be defined by Responsibility, Integrity, Innovation, Adaptability, and Optimism”, said Dan Nistor, General Manager Nordic Group.

In recent years, Nordic Group has restructured its supplier portfolio, developed existing partnerships, and concluded new ones. At the same time, the Group has made new acquisitions, opening physical and online stores as well as Nordic Restaurants, creating new brands. The company’s future plans include accelerated development of logistics capabilities, entry into new markets in the region and beyond, and the launch of digital applications to access new customer segments or develop other sectors.

Although we can tick off many successes in the business sphere, the biggest achievement of the last period was and is certainly the fact that the entire team has weathered the trials of this pandemic and Nordic Group has remained a solid and dynamic company on the Romanian market. In my five years as General Manager of Nordic Group, the company has gone through many stages that have fundamentally transformed us, guided by two strategic directions: evolution and sustainability. The accelerated developments the company has gone through have also added complexity to the Group. In order to ensure that we successfully manage the company’s development, to bring both a significant increase in efficiency and structure, but also to have the necessary resources for the Nordic Group’s future projects, we decided to bring in a man with extensive experience and expertise. Thus, as of February, the company has Dan Nistor as General Manager”, announced Ciprian Moldoveanu.

During Ciprian Moldoveanu’s mandate as General Manager, the company has restructured its supplier portfolio to increase sustainability, reducing dependence on a small number of suppliers and strengthening multi-year partnerships with new suppliers such as Meggle, Kotanyi etc. Growth has been accelerated both intensively, through the development of existing partnerships in the market, and extensively, through new partnerships. The Group acquired Dupont Ingredients and opened physical and online stores, as well as Nordic Restaurants, which currently operates three brands: Truff&Moi, Pastalicious and the Group’s flagship MOKI – Modern Kitchen. The group has also created new brands, such as Voilà or El Maestro, through which it continues to bring the highest quality products from France and Denmark to Romanian consumers.

In 2021, Nordic also joined the Spirits&Wine category, following the philosophy of bringing exclusively premium products by developing partnerships with strong players such as Amaro Montenegro Group – leaders in Italy with products like Vecchia Romagna, Amaro Montenegro and Select, Purity Distillery – which produces Connoisseur 51 Reserve Vodka, the top rated vodka according to Wine Enthusiast, as well as Navy Strength Organic Gin, the best gin in the world according to the ISC’s 2020 ranking, Canard-Duchene – one of the longest-established champagnes since 1868, or Sir Edmond Gin – the only gin in the world infused with the famous Bourbon vanilla.

During the pandemic, which has accelerated the digitisation trend, Nordic Group has implemented Nordic Customer Platform – a CRM & SFA based on state-of-the-art SAP technology. The total investment of more than EUR 500 000 is an important step in the Group’s approach to implementing its next digital projects.
