Orange Romania announces the appointment of Julien Ducarroz as CEO, starting on September 1, 2023. Liudmila Climoc, currently CEO of Orange Romania, will take over from Julien Ducarroz as CEO of Orange Poland from the same date.

With this appointment, subject to the approval of the local board of directors, Julien Ducarroz returns to Romania, where he worked between 2007-2016. Ducarroz started his career in Orange Romania as Strategy Director, and since 2009 he has led the sales, marketing, digital and brand communication teams as Chief Commercial Officer. During his previous mandate in Romania, he made a major contribution to the launch of Orange TV and 4G services and strengthened the leading position of the Orange brand. In 2016, he was appointed CEO of Orange Moldova, and since 2020 he is CEO of Orange Poland.

Under his leadership, Orange Poland launched and implemented the “.Grow” growth strategy. Thanks to the company’s strong business base, emphasizing innovation and a transformation process focused around the green agenda, “.Grow” led to an acceleration of financial and commercial results and a strengthening of Orange Poland’s market position.

Under the leadership of Julien Ducarroz, Orange Poland implemented the landmark project, FiberCo JV, which ensured the expansion of the fiber optic footprint and contributed to the fight against digital exclusion in Poland. In the last three years, Orange Polonia has become the main supplier of smart city solutions in the country and has strengthened its position on the wholesale market. The company met its key environmental targets and, two years ahead of schedule, reached the target of 65% of its energy consumption coming from renewable resources.

During his 22-year career in the Orange Group, Julien Ducarroz gained experience in several European markets. He graduated from the Swiss Federal Polytechnic Institute in Zürich, being originally from Switzerland.

“Due to his passion and skills, Julien made impactful changes in Orange Poland during his tenure. During these turbulent years, he developed a strong strategy and successfully delivered both financial and commercial results above expectations, enabling the company to grow and strengthen its position in the market despite the challenges. I thank Julien for leading the Orange Poland team with maximum energy during the pandemic and in the midst of a difficult macroeconomic and geo-political context, generated by the war in Ukraine . I am convinced that he will tackle any challenges in Romania just as well,” said Mari-Noëlle Jégo-Laveissière, Executive Vice President, CEO of Orange in Europe (outside France).

“During the seven years of leadership, Liudmila and her team in Romania were the protagonists of several firsts, such as the launch of 5G services, showing creativity, enthusiasm and unlimited energy resources. More importantly, Liudmila led the transformation of Orange Romania from -a mobile operator to a converged one. She is a true leader and I am confident in her ability to lead the company to sustainable growth and continue Julien’s mission in Poland,” she added.

Liudmila Climoc will take over, from September 1, 2023, the position of CEO of Orange Polonia, which represents the third mandate of CEO in her career. With 25 years of experience in telecommunications, Liudmila became CEO of Orange Moldova in 2008, and in 2016 she was appointed CEO of Orange Romania. Under his leadership, Orange Romania went through a complex transformation from an exclusively mobile company to an operator with integrated fixed-mobile services, a journey that began in 2016 with the launch of the first converged services for residential customers and continued with the expansion fiber optic coverage throughout the country. In 2021, the company accelerated its convergent strategy by acquiring the majority stake in Orange Romania Communications. Today, as a result, Orange Romania offers converged services and integrated digital solutions to both residential customers and local companies.

With a major focus on innovation, Liudmila Climoc and her team offered Romanian customers access to the latest technologies and services, which enabled the development of a complex 5G ecosystem. Romania was the first country in the Orange Group to launch 5G services and in the last two years opened two 5G laboratories, in Bucharest and Iași, innovation hubs for the research community, startups and companies. At the same time, Orange’s ITC solutions contribute to the development of large-scale local projects and to the technological advance of companies in Romania.

During her mandate, Orange Romania’s digital business line was consolidated, and YOXO, the 100% digital subscription, became a love brand, very popular among users of all ages. Due to its focus on customer experience and offering premium connectivity, Orange Romania is today the #1 network with the fastest fixed and mobile internet, consolidating its leading position on the market.

“Romania is one of the most competitive markets in Europe and I am grateful for the chance I have had to build together with my team so many innovative and equally impactful projects. I am delighted to welcome him Julien at home in Romania. The Romanian team has the best telecommunications professionals in the country and I am sure that under Julien’s baton it will reach new performance milestones,” says Liudmila Climoc, CEO of Orange Romania.
