OMRO IFN, the company that has been providing financial solutions for almost 30 years to small, medium, and micro-enterprises, as well as agricultural businesses in Romania, and which laid the foundations, in 2020, of the fintech Filbo – the 100% digital financing solution for small entrepreneurs, announces a change in management. Starting with the 1st of August 2023, Georgiana Andrei takes over the role of Chief Executive Officer alongside Robert Maftei, the new Deputy CEO.

With over 15 years of experience in financial services, both in banking and non-banking financial institutions, Georgiana Andrei has extensive expertise in financial management, accumulated in companies such as GE Money or BCR (member of the Erste Group). The new CEO joined the company in 2020 as Chief Financial Officer of OMRO and Filbo, with the aim of creating an ecosystem that is easy to access by small entrepreneurs who need financing for business development. Last year, Georgiana Andrei took over as Deputy CEO, coordinating the financial activities and the technology and development of internal processes to make the operations more efficient.

“It is an honor to take over as Chief Executive Officer of OMRO and Filbo, one of the first microfinancing companies in Romania. We will continue to focus on our mission to support small entrepreneurs, providing them with a completely digital platform to access financing. This market segment faces great financial challenges, with a discrepancy of almost 45 billion euros between the need for financing of Romanian micro-enterprises and what is happening in the current reality of financing granted. As an engine of the economy, these small businesses have diverse needs to cover, from working capital and development investments, to covering the cost of preparing agricultural activities, and we aim to support them in every step of their development through quick and efficient financial solutions,” declares Georgiana Andrei, the new Chief Executive Officer of OMRO and Filbo.

Robert Maftei, the new Deputy CEO of the company, has an experience of over 20 years in financial services, business development management, and organizational transformation, accumulated in areas such as banking, financial leasing, operational leasing, and the automotive industry. Over the years, the new Deputy CEO of OMRO and Filbo has managed the achievement of ambitious goals both within large financial corporations and in the entrepreneurial environment, working in companies such as UniCredit, BRD, and Arval (part of the BNP Paribas Group). Robert Maftei has a solid educational background, graduating from an Executive MBA program at the Vienna University of Economics and Business and a Ph.D. in Economy at the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest.

“I am excited to join the OMRO and Filbo team, taking care of the further development of microfinance both in terms of the classical financing approach started by OMRO almost 30 years ago and the growth of the fintech Filbo with a completely digital approach to micro-companies financing. I was impressed by the growth potential of this market segment, which represents over 90% of the number of enterprises in Romania but does not easily find financing solutions offered by banks. The potential to create new embedded finance partnerships opens up new growth opportunities. I have always been excited to be at the forefront of using technology, as finance is reinventing itself,” states Robert Maftei, the new Deputy Chief Executive Officer of OMRO and Filbo.

OMRO and Filbo offer financing to small entrepreneurs in diverse industries, supporting the transformation and development of the Romanian entrepreneurial environment. In 2022, most credits were generated by the fintech Filbo, accumulating over 67% of the total credits granted by the financial institution.
