Global virtual sim provider eSIM Plus today announced the appointment of Dina Tsybulskaya, a senior leader in Europe’s telecommunications sector and former CEO of Telekom Romania Mobile (2021-2023), to the role of its global CEO. Tsybulskaya, who has previously held high-ranking positions, including as a member of the board at three different telecommunication providers across Europe, will bring her diverse expertise in digital transformation and global market expansion to eSIM Plus’ new wave of growth.

Commenting on her appointment, Tsybulskaya said, “I am delighted to take up this new role with eSIM Plus, a technology company at the forefront of democratizing telecom services. By sharing in their vision to make telecom services easily accessible through web3-based functionalities, I look forward to removing barriers of growth and identifying new opportunities in our key markets.”

Launched in 2022, eSIM Plus has in a short span of time, emerged as one of the world’s most trusted providers of virtual sims, serving over 1.6 million users globally, with an impressive retention rate of 30%. The company is fully focused on tailoring its product to meet the needs of retail consumers, and is a market disruptor in offering customers the freedom to pay for their voice/data services via fiat or crypto currencies. In fact, the company’s bet on incorporating crypto payments has been one of the defining aspects of its growth, with over 11% of users paying their telecom bills via crypto, and contributing to 35% of its total revenue.

Tsybulskaya, a long-time proponent of the telecom industry’s impact on social progress, is expected to usher in operational and marketing innovations to maximize these gains. She is also expected to help eSIM Plus better penetrate the web3/crypto community and solidify its presence among early adopters in developed and emerging economies.

“With a presence in over 190 countries, eSIM Plus has already disrupted the traditional telco industry, providing globetrotting customers with a roam-like-home approach. The natural next step is to take this to the masses,” she said, adding, “We are actively forging strategic partnerships to consolidate our presence in newer territories, without compromising on our core advantages of affordability and ease of access enjoyed by business and travel users.”

With nearly 76% or 6.7 billion e-sim smartphone connections anticipated to be in use globally by 2030, the e-sim sector is already witnessing one of its biggest adoption rates, upending the way basic telecom services are made available in emerging economies of Africa, Latin America, MENA and Asia Pacific regions. Apart from their obvious feature-based advantages and lower carbon footprint, e-sims are also gaining value for enabling a unified anytime, anywhere access for users who require a seamless telecom experience, without having to physically switch sims.
