Nicolas Richard set to become the new CEO of ENGIE Romania

ENGIE Romania announces that, after 13 years of activity in Romania, Eric Stab will conclude his mandate as CEO of ENGIE Romania starting on June 1st and will continue his professional career within the ENGIE group as CEO of ENGIE Germany. Additionally, Eric Stab will retain his position as Chairman of the Board of Directors of ENGIE Romania and will continue to oversee the activities of ENGIE Group’s Networks and Infrastructure in Europe.

 

Eric Stab has held the position of President & CEO of ENGIE Romania for 13 years. He also coordinated ENGIE’s activities in Eastern Europe (Romania, Poland, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic) and served two terms as Chairman of the Foreign Investors’ Council. He was the Vice President of the Concordia Employers’ Confederation and chaired the Romanian Committee of Foreign Trade Advisors of France and the Federation of Utility Companies Associations in Energy.

“It has been a privilege for me to be part of the ENGIE Romania team, and I will remain attached to everything we have achieved together during my 13-year mandate. I would like to thank my colleagues for their professionalism, the shareholders for supporting the company’s development, partner institutions, suppliers, and customers for their trust, and the partnering NGOs with whom we have developed projects for the communities where we are present,” stated Eric Stab.

Starting from June 1st, 2023, ENGIE Group appoints Nicolas Richard, currently Deputy General Manager of ENGIE Romania and CEO of ENGIE Services and ENGIE Building Solutions, as CEO of ENGIE Romania.

“It is an honor and a great responsibility to assume the position of CEO of ENGIE Romania. My priorities are to continue the decarbonization strategy of our own activities, as well as to support our customers with solutions that assist them in this endeavor, develop the portfolio of renewable assets, and ensure the transition of our networks to distribute low CO2 emissions gases,” declared Nicolas Richard.

Nicolas Richard began his career within the ENGIE Group in 2000, where he gained extensive experience in the Group’s core activities (Distribution, Supply, Energy Management, Energy Solutions), particularly in operations involving residential and corporate customer management. In 2003, he joined the International Directorate of Gaz de France (predecessor of ENGIE) and was involved in the privatization process of Distrigaz Sud (now ENGIE Romania). He continued his career by coordinating the natural gas sales activities to strategic business customers in several countries within the group, such as Italy, Hungary, and Austria. Later on, he completed his professional experience as the responsible person for energy procurement for the client portfolio in Romania. He returned to France to lead an ENGIE Group service subsidiary focused on developing energy services and green solutions for corporate clients and municipalities. He returned to Romania at the end of 2016, being entrusted with marketing and sales activities, and in 2021, he became Deputy General Manager of ENGIE Romania.
