In an engaging interview with Business Review, Lucia Stoicescu, CEO of mindit.io, provided valuable insights into the company’s remarkable growth in 2022, their strategic initiatives, and future plans in the evolving world of software and technology. Her vision for mindit.io focuses on being a vital growth partner for their clients through exceptional digital product engineering services.

1. What was the main driver behind mindit.io’s impressive growth in 2022, and how do you plan to sustain it in the future?

The key driver behind mindit.io’s impressive growth in 2022 was our strategic focus on expanding our international presence, particularly in the DACH region (German-speaking countries). The opening of our office in Switzerland was a crucial step in this direction, allowing us to better serve clients in these strategic markets. Additionally, our commitment to continuously learn, build and enrich the value we provide to our customers contributed significantly to our success. We are committed to constantly building towards our northstar – to be a strong growth partner for Enterprise Customers through outstanding digital product engineering services.

mindit.io has remained true to its mission ever since it started on this road 8 years ago: we are the partner of choice for our customers. This translates into focus on the important aspects for the customer be it cultural, technical or business wise. We go the extra mile and ensure that we provide the best of the technological space to our customers.

As we deeply understand both the customers’ business and the innovation in technology, we are able to recommend the most suitable solution for their needs, for the long run. We are there for our partners for the whole journey, from the ideation phase, through implementation, during operation and even when sunsetting a solution.

2. How does mindit.io stay ahead of the curve in terms of technological innovation, and what are some of the key trends you are following?

Passion in everything what we do. We keep an eye on everything that is changing in the technology space and each year we dedicate time to experiment with them. We treasure our ability of learning and onboarding new technologies. In this way we can be agile and use the best tool for the job.

We are very skillful at transforming technology into purposeful systems for our partners, but also internally. We never take ourselves for granted – we continue exploring ways of delivering better quality, more efficient.

A couple of years back, we started exploring the AI landscape as a natural development to our Business Intelligence and Data Analytics competence. We continue this journey by applying these learnings to multiple industries together with our partners to help them transform their businesses. We went beyond the buzzword of AI, and we zoomed in on ways of transforming data into knowledge. Currently we are expanding the traditional channels of interaction with software systems by usage of Generative AI. Also, we are integrating our customers’ archives into information extraction pipelines which are able to transform data into useful business insights. Another area we continuously explore is how can we help companies be more efficient, especially during this challenging time which brought operational challenges like supply chains disruption or changing end customers behaviors.

3. What are some of the most important skills that software engineers need to have in today’s fast-paced and competitive environment, and how does mindit.io foster them?

In today’s fast-paced environment, software engineers need a combination of technical expertise, adaptability and strong collaboration skills. At mindit.io, we foster these skills by providing continuous learning opportunities, encouraging a culture of innovation, and promoting collaboration within our community. To provide an effective solution, it’s essential to thoroughly understand both the problem and its context. Our engineers are more than technically proficient; they comprehend the business environments they operate in. This enables them to offer custom-made solutions that enhance our partners’ systems. Our learning journey is ongoing: we organize internal trainings with both internal and external speakers. Beyond that, each colleague stays informed about industry trends. Those trends deemed worthwhile are further explored through pilot projects in proofs of concept.

We also encourage participation in conferences, both as attendees and speakers. This allows us to gather feedback from industry peers and learn how we can continue to improve.

4. What are some of the most promising areas for growth and development in the Romanian software industry, and how is mindit.io positioning itself to take advantage of them?

The software industry in Romania continues to offer many opportunities. The current disruptor is Artificial Intelligence and its application to each industry creates constantly evolving growth areas. As mentioned, we got on the AI train some time ago and we continue to do so. More than just building AI powered systems, we integrated it then mindset of what it means to operate as an AI first organization, from the way we develop software to how we operate our business. We will continue exploring the options and where there are none available, we will build them.

5. What are some of the most important lessons you have learned as a CEO, and how have they shaped your leadership style and approach to business?

As CEO, I’ve learned the invaluable lesson that success is a collective effort, and a united team is the foundation of any thriving business. Building on this, our organizational culture at mindit.io emphasizes kindness, diversity, and continuous learning. The decision to empower our team has been pivotal, and I’ve witnessed the positive impact it has on our growth. This experience has shaped my leadership style to be inclusive, collaborative and focused on empowering individuals to become the best versions of themselves. The “we put people first” community we’ve cultivated is not just a motto; it’s the driving force behind our success.
