Ioan Pintea, Deputy CEO of Mendola Fabrics, talked with Business Review about several crucial aspects of the interior design industry. From leveraging marketing strategies to embracing digital tools, Ioan emphasizes the significance of a holistic approach combining online presence, personalized client services, and offline activations. He also sheds light on Romania’s burgeoning textile industry, highlighting the need for creativity and sustainability to strike a balance between industry demands and innovative design. Ioan also discusses the pivotal role of 3D technology in shaping the industry’s future and advocates for a robust digital marketing strategy embracing AI, interactive content, and multichannel approaches. Moreover, he underlines the importance of sustainability, emphasizing the integration of recycled materials and environmentally conscious practices without compromising product quality and competitiveness.

With your experience in marketing and management, how can interior design businesses effectively leverage marketing strategies to enhance their brand presence and attract a wider audience?

Using online tools creates a business that communicates proactively and is truly digital. It is mandatory to combine the digital factor with offline activations and great client service. This means the brand’s presence in exhibitions, meetings, and workshops, sustains people (clients) with services and products that make their life better – and this not in a general way, but a personalized one, responding directly to their specific needs in life.

Romania has a growing industry. Can you provide insights into the opportunities and challenges businesses in this sector face, and how they can balance industry requirements with innovative design?

We need more investment in creativity and develop strong brands with an accent on sustainable materials or production.

In the digital age, 3D renderings have become a crucial tool in interior design. How do you see advancements in 3D technology shaping the future of the industry, and how can professionals harness this technology for their businesses?

With AI development,  this is the future. You either go digital, or you die.  Virtual renderings are important and clearly, the designers need this connection with future beneficiaries of their work. I would also indicate the importance of 360 photography in providing a more realistic virtual experience.

Digital marketing is evolving rapidly. What are some key digital marketing trends and strategies that interior design businesses should embrace to stay competitive and reach their target audience effectively?

A 360 marketing approach is essential. You must be present where your target audience is active, you also must be bold, and create interactive personalized content, by using AI, and multichannel marketing. Don’t forget about the short video content, this is a great tool right now.

Sustainable practices are gaining importance in various industries, including fabrics and interior design. How can businesses in this field incorporate sustainable materials and practices into their operations while maintaining quality and competitiveness?

By using recycled materials and packaging, raw materials, by simply being conscious of the environment.  The products’ quality can be the same and the operations can be adapted to maintain costs at moderate levels.
