After investing over EUR 75 million in Romania in the past 14 years, Austrian bricks manufacturer Wienerberger has announced that it intends to build a new greenfield factory in Iasi, Eastern Romania. The project will require a EUR 22 million investment and currently the company is looking to obtain the necessary building permits, said Wienerberger representatives.

“The growth potential of the local constructions markets continues to be attractive for investors and this is why Wienerberger continues to allocate important funds for its local business,” said Mihaela Chelu, member of the board of administration of Wienerberger Romania.

The Austrian investor already runs three factories in Romania and employs 200 people. The three production facilities are located in Gura Ocnitei (Damboviaa County), Sibiu and Tritenii de Jos (Cluj County).
