Wholesale turnover increased by 7.5 pct in 2017

In 2017, the wholesale turnover (excluding the trade with motor vehicles and motorcycles) in nominal terms increased as gross series by 7.5 percent compared to 2016.

The increase in 2017 from the previous year was due to the increases registered by the non-specialised wholesale (+16.5 percent), by the other specialised wholesale (+14.6 percent), by the wholesale of household goods, other than food (+6.8 percent), by the wholesale of food, beverages and tobacco (+5.9 percent), agricultural raw materials and live animals (+5.2 percent) and other machinery, equipment and supplies (+5 percent). Drops were registered by the wholesale of information and communication equipment (-1.4 percent) and by the wholesale intermediation activities (-1.2 percent).

Compared to November 2017, the wholesale turnover in December decreased by 7.0 as gross series and increased as adjusted series by 1 percent according to the number of working days and seasonality.

Against the corresponding month of 2016, the wholesale turnover in December 2017 in nominal terms increased both as gross series, by 6.8 percent, and as adjusted series according to the number of working days and seasonality, by 12 percent.
