Vodafone Romania had 8,930,315 customers at June 30, 2011, which is 2.9 percent less as compared to previous quarter, resulting from the continuous disconnection of the inactive prepaid SIMs from our customer base, according to a press release in which the company announces key performance indicators for the first quarter of the financial year 2011/2012, ended June 30, 2011.

At June 30, 2011, contract subscribers accounted for 38 percent and prepaid for 62 percent of Vodafone Romania’s total customer base.

Service revenue increased by 4.1 percent, as compared to previous quarter and dropped by 6.3 percent year on year.

Mobile ARPU (Average Revenue per User) was EUR 6.8 for the quarter ended June 30, 2011, corresponding to 11.6 percent growth as compared to previous quarter and a 2 percent decrease year on year.

“We are glad to see positive signs in our performance over the last quarter, such as the growth in revenues and in the ARPU on the previous quarter in spite of difficult market conditions. One of the main factors that contributed to this good evolution was the continuous growth in mobile data services. This growth was sustained by offers that made smartphones and mobile internet more accessible for our users,” said Iñaki Berroeta, CEO of Vodafone Romania.
