Vodafone Romania’s mobile internet customer base hikes by 186 percent

Vodafone Romania had a total number of 7,798,411, customers at June 30, 2012, the end of the first quarter of the financial year, which is 1.8 percent lower as to the previous quarter ended April 30, 2012.

Service revenue dropped by 4.5 percent as compared to the same quarter, last year. By excluding the effect of the interconnection rates drop (effective March 1st 2012), service revenue dropped only 0.7 percent, as compared to the same quarter, last year, states the company in a pres release.

Mobile Internet customer base increased by 186 percent compared to the same quarter of 2011.

According to the company’s pres release, strong mobile data growth has been supported by the special offers that brought users new benefits like extended Internet traffic and smartphones at very affordable prices.

Mobile ARPU (average revenues per user) was EUR 7.4 for the quarter ended June 30, 2012, which is 9.8 percent up as compared to the quarter ended June 30, 2011.

At June 30, 2012, contract customers represented 43 percent, and prepaid 57 percent of Vodafone’s base.
