The US Ambassador to Romania talks about the values shared by the two countries in a video message posted online.

“America will soon celebrate its Independence Day, the moment when, 240 years ago, fifty-six American patriots pledged their lives to the belief that all men are created equal and that we all have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

In addition, we have another important anniversary this year.

One hundred years ago, America had the magnificent idea to create a National Park System to safeguard our natural resources.

As a result, the United States Embassy in Romania chose this as the theme of our Independence Day celebration.

Our President Kennedy once said that “We all breathe the same air.”

That is to say, the air we breathe in Yosemite, California is no different from the air that we breathe at Sleeping Bear Dunes, in Michigan, where I am from, and is no different from the air we breathe in Apuseni.

Just as we share the same air, Romania and America share a common interest to make the world safe.

Not only in terms of our important effort to promote security, democracy and prosperity, but also in our common duty to protect our environment, for our children, and our children’s children.

Thank you for Romania’s partnership and friendship as we celebrate America’s birthday!” said Klemm.
