The National Forests Agency Romsilva has published drone footage of a forest in the northern part of Romania that was destroyed by strong wind gusts.

Romsilva said that the extreme weather has impacted 82,750 hectares of forests since the start of the year and in the case of 136 hectares the trees were grounded by the wind.

In Suceava county, where the video was shot, over 20,000 hectares of forests were affected by the extreme weather that hit the area between June 23-25.

Romsilva employees will improve the forest surfaces that were impacted and in the cases in which the trees were destroyed, authorities will kick off a reforestation campaign after the wood mass is removed.

A record surface of 12,538 hectares of forests were destroyed by the bad weather in November 1995, across four counties in central Romania.

Romania has been hit by heavy rainfalls and strong winds in the past few days.
