Valer Dorneanu was elected with a majority of votes to be the new president of the Romanian Constitutional Court on Wednesday.

The new president of RCC has declared that he expects to cooperate very well with the state institutions, mentioning that he expects them to “stop turning RCC into a place where all the political misunderstandings are send to”.

Valer Dorneanu has been a judge in the Romanian Constitutional Court since July 2013, named by the Chamber of Deputies. Before this, he was the Assistant Ombudsman in the army, justice, police and jail fields.

Dorneanu was also a PSD deputy from 2000 to 2008 and was the president of the Chamber of Deputies during his first parliamentary mandate.
