Ursus Breweries sees sales volumes go down by 6 percent in Q4 2011

Ursus Breweries, the local division of SABMiller and the biggest player on the Romanian beer market, has reported a 6 percent decrease in sales volumes in Q4 2011, y-o-y.

The company reported the same decrease in Poland and Russia while overall its European sales went down by 2 percent.

Globally, SABMiller has reported a 3 percent increase in sales volumes in the last three months of 2011, but the growth was mainly generated by emerging markets in Latin America and Africa.

The Romanian beer market is estimated by Ernst & Young at about EUR 1.8 billion (VAT included). Consumption decreased by 3.5 percent in 2010 according to the Brewers of Romania Association.
