Ursus Breweries, the Romanian subsidiary of SABMiller, sold 3 percent less beer during the first fiscal quarter of this year, ended 30 June 2011.
“Our volumes in Romania declined by 3 percent as the market continued to suffer the effects of a fragile economic environment and government austerity measures,” reads the company’s financial report. Overall, lager volumes were up 5 percent in Europe. Volumes increased by 4 percent in Poland and the Czech Republic and 11 percent in Russia.
