Ursus Breweries registered a 13 percent drop in sales

Ursus Breweries, the Romanian subsidiary of SABMiller plc and leader of the Romanian beer market has ended the April 2009 – March 2010 financial year with a 13 percent sales drop, according to the company. This is the largest sales drop in Europe for SABMiller which has recorded a 5 percent overall decline in the region. ‘This reflects the continued weak economic environment, as well as substantial increases in excise taxes in a number of our markets’ company representatives have announced. Sales have also declined in Poland (3 percent), Czech Republic (5 percent) and Russia (5 percent). Ursus Breweries is the producer of the Ursus and Timisoreana brands.
