The Sibiu-based developers of Urby, a smartphone app offering cultural events recommendations in Romania, got EUR 300,000 in fresh funding from an angel investors.
Eventya Co, which developed the app, plans to launch it in several western markets, including The Netherlands, France and Great Britain after raising the money.
At present, Urby is available in Bucharest, Cluj, Timisoara, Iasi, Brasov and Sibiu and will be rolled out in another 15 cities from Romania this month.
The developer is currently testing the app for events in Amsterdam and Berlin. Urby has a freemium-model. However, it also includes the premium content option so users have to pay in order to unlock more advanced features.
Urby is preparing for launch in The Netherlands next month.
“We have imagined a system that cuts the volume of information to what matters for users based on their interests, taking into account the places they visit, the events they attend, so that going out can be simple, without any complicated planning, like in the case of holidays,” said Ionut Munteanu, co-founder of Urby.
The app was part of the Romanian start-up accelerator MVP Academy.
