Update:The governmet will create a more flexible Labor Code even if this will mean getting sacked, Andreea Paul Vass, adviser to Prime Minister Emil Boc, said on Thursday.
The government has three main targets: creating a more flexible Labor Code, reforming the education system to focus on developing skills, increasing SMEs competitiveness and their capacity to create new jobs, Vass said at a conference presenting the governmental Strategy for the development of the SME sector in 2009-2013. The PM’s adviser stressed out the fact that without an active employment policy, Romania will see no economic development on the short term.

Romanian opposition parties, PSD and PNL, are ready to submit a no-confidence motion against the government, should the latter decide to pass the new Labor Code through a confidence vote in Parliament, Social Democratic Party leader Victor Ponta said this Tuesday, according to Mediafax newswire.
Opposition parties will discuss with representatives of unions and employers’ organizations the legislative changes brought by the new Labor Code this Tuesday.
The announcement comes after this Monday, Prime Minister Emil Boc said that ruling coalition leaders suggested that the Government should seek the Parliament’s confidence vote to adopt new labor legislation. The PM added that negotiations with social partners will continue and the amendments brought by lawmakers will be taken into account.
