Romanian firm Turbomecanica signed this Tuesday an agreement at Paris with French company Safran for engines maintenance of future helicopters H215 that Airbus wants to manufacture at Brasov factory for the Defence Ministry and Internal Affairs Ministry.

„It’s an important agreement for Turbomecanica and also for the entire Romanian aeronautic industry because it will provide the possibility of engines and mechanical assembly reparation for H215 helicopter,” said Serban Vasilescu, technical director at Turbomecanica.

„We collaborate with Safran and Airbus for 40 years and we started by manufacturing engines and mechanical assemblies for helicopters. We think that this agreement is just the beginning and we want for the future to be more committed to manufacturing these new helicopters models,” added Vasilescu.

Airbus opened at Brasov in 2016 a factory that manufactures the H215 model and the military version H215M.

The two engines are Turbomecanica Makila 1A2 models produced by Safran.
