The organizers of the project Transilvania Train launched 2018 edition taking place during August 22-26 2018. Transilvania Train means a new touristic experience, in a train with 3 carriages of bistro type, 4 days with traditional and cultural touristic activities in the heart of Transylvania, 100 participants in 2017, 6 historical cities, 10 workshops inspired from German traditions and a series of musical events.

„The 2017 edition was a pilot project, through which we tested the relevance of such an initiative on the Romanian market. We wanted to changed the perception over the Romanian tourism, but also to try to empower people to get involved in the promotion of values, traditions and national culture.  There were 100 participants, all of them Romanians, but for the next year we aim for 200 participants, 30-35 percent foreigners and 70-65 percent Romanians, ” said Cristi Pitulice, co-founder Transilvania Train, managing partner Globe 365 Travel Boutique.

The main partner of the project is CFR (Romanian Railways company), which owns the train.

“ The feeback from the first edition encouraged us to start the work for the edition of the next year as soon as possible. We had many questions and demands from young families. We emphasize the implication and education components and the future generations need to learn about their roots,” said Alina Deak, co-founder Transilvania Train, representative Free Spirit Travel.

Transilvania Train 2018 offers a touristic package of 5 days, each day with a topic; the first day is the meet & greet day, the second day is the story of churches in Transylvania, the third one is the story of castles and traditional handcrafts, the forth is the traditional Transylvanian food and the last day comprises cultural events in Sibiu.  Also the next year will be 15 workshops. The train has a central role in this journey, connecting the locations and at the same time representing the place where the organizing team and participants get to know each other, create friendships, taste wines and hear the stories of the places.

The accommodations will be at the hotels in the medieval cities Brasov, Sighisoara, Alba Iulia and Sibiu.

The prices start from EUR 900/person for the 5-day holiday and reach  EUR 1,560 for 2 persons, EUR 1560 VAT included for the Family 2C package for 2 adults and 2 children 0-4 years and EUR 1,950 for Family package 1B, for 2 adults and 1 child 4-14 years .

Transilvania Train is the first Romanian touristic train and was created at the initiative of the agencies Free Spirit Travel și Globe 365’s representatives, in partnership with CFR Calatori.
