Tony Blair to visit Romania on March 26

Former British prime minister Tony Blair will visit Bucharest, later this month, for a conference on Europe’s future and to meet opposition leader Victor Ponta, who invited the British politician in Romania, according to Mediafax newswire.

Blair, former labour party leader and Ponta, leader of socialist party PSD, will be speakers at the conference called Europe’s future in the new world order, organized by The Multimedia Foundation for Democracy and the Center for American Progress, at the Romanian-American University, on March 26, starting 18:00.

Tony Blair was UK’s PM between 1997 and 2007 and member of the Parliament between 1983 and 2007. Blair was at the helm of the Labour Party between 1994 and 2007.

Victor Ponta is president of PSD (Social Democratic Party) since 2010 and is co-president in the opposition alliance USL (Liberal Social Union) together with Crin Antonescu, president of PNL (National Liberal Party).
